Most IPTV problems come from the same few causes: a weak connection, the wrong app or a typo in the login details. Work through this checklist before you start and you will avoid most of them.
1. Check your internet speed
Run a speed test on the device you will use and look at the download speed. As a rule of thumb, allow this for each device watching at the same time:

Add up the devices that will be on together and keep about a quarter extra for everything else in your home.
2. Prefer a cable, or Wi-Fi 5 GHz
Wi-Fi is the most common cause of stutter. If your TV or streaming stick has a network port, use a cable. If not, connect to the 5 GHz network and keep the router close, with as few walls as possible in between.
3. Choose the right device
Smart TVs, Fire TV Stick, Android and Apple phones and tablets and computers all work. A device with a recent system and enough memory runs the app more smoothly, so an old, slow TV is a common reason for freezing.
4. Use the right app
Ask your provider which IPTV player app to use. Install it only from the official store of your device or from an address your provider gives you. Avoid unknown websites.
5. Enter your details carefully
- Type the username, password and server address exactly as sent.
- Watch for a space at the start or end when you copy and paste.
- Letters are case-sensitive.
- Include the beginning of the server address, such as
http://orhttps://, if the app asks for it.
6. Test with a free trial first
A trial shows you the picture quality and whether your device copes, before you pay. Test at the time of day you usually watch.
7. Set the quality that suits your connection
If the picture stutters, lower the quality in the app. A smooth HD picture is better than a broken 4K one.
8. Set up parental controls
If children use the TV, look for parental controls in the app settings and set a PIN.
9. Keep your login details private
Your details are linked to your plan and the number of devices in it. Do not share them, and do not post them online.
10. Know where to get help
Save the support contact details and keep your order information to hand. If you need help, describe your device, the app name, the channel and what you see on screen.
